Aurora Reservoir
-
Located in what was once considered the prairie outskirts of Aurora, Colorado, Aurora Reservoir is managed by Aurora Water
-
The reservoir was filled in 1990, and is primarily fed by inflows from Senac Creek and other minor streams
-
With over 820 acres of water surface, the reservoir provides multi-use recreation, and serves as a drinking water storage facility for the city of Aurora
-
The reservoir has a surface elevation of 5,950 feet
-
Mobley Engineering installed 2,295 feet of diffuser line, with 1,920 feet of supply including in the trench and under water
|
Summary of project benefits
- Save approximately $850,000 in treatment chemicals and granular activated carbon costs
- Answer approximately 200 fewer taste odor complaint calls
- Spend considerably less time evaluating and making treatment related chemical changes
- Blend in Aurora Reservoir water at the Wemlinger WPF in the middle of summer 2017 with no T&O complaints
- Observed reduced soluble reactive and total phosphorus internal loading
- Have great hope that these first two successful years are only the beginning of the healing and restoration in Aurora Reservoir's new life!
