Broken Bow Dam

  • Located in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, on the Mountain Fork River
  • Constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1968 for flood control, water supply, and hydroelectric power generation
  • 22 miles long, with a 14,200 acre surface area

 

Broken Bow Upwelling System

Objectives
  • An experimental attempt at enhancing turbine release temperatures for downstream fish habitat
Facilities
  • 3 -15 foot diameter upwelling diffusers
  • Supplied by portable air compressors
