C.W. Young Reservoir
-
The C.W. Bill Young Reservoir is located in Lithia, FL, and is operated by Tampa Bay Water
-
The Reservoir first opened in 2005, after 10 years of construction. Abnormal cracking in the reservoir's soil-cement erosion-control layer became apparent in 2006, and led to a massive renovation of this 15.5 billion gallon reservoir beginning in 2012
-
The reservoir collects water from the Alafia and Hillsborough Rivers
-
The reservoir has a surface area of 1,100 acres, and has a perimeter of over 5 miles

Working in the "dry", as construction continues on the re-building of the reservoir. In the pictures above and below, there is actually a concrete plant in the center of the reservoir (in the distance)

Site Pictures, August-September, 2014
|
Our previous work-site
was under water when
we arrived in
August -- the reservoir
was filling at a rate of
1 million gallons per day
| |
|
Lots of wildlife to watch while we worked, but the fire ants were truly a nuisance!

A nice, straight bubble pattern is visible on the surface of the reservoir from one of the diffusers
